Georgian Carnelian Drop Earrings circa 1820.
An elegant pair of late Georgian carnelian earrings.
These beautiful earrings are a typical Regency design with a cabochon carnelian in a fine gold mount set to a hinged ear stud.
The earrings have a removable pear shaped drop allowing them to be worn as either articulated drops or simple studs. The hook fittings for pierced ears are typical of the age and are fitted from the reverse of the ear.
The earrings move beautifully when worn and are in wonderful condition.
These stylish earrings are assumed to be English in origin and date from c.1810-1820.
Era: Georgian, 1714 - 1837.
Measurements: Earrings 3.5 cm in length.
Hallmarks: Unmarked, tests as over 14 carat gold.
