A good quality George V silver presentation Snuff Box, of rectangular form with canted corners, finely bright-cut and engine turned in the Georgian style. The silver gilt interior engraved with presentation inscription - 'Presented by the Clothworker's Company, May 6th 1935'.

By Carrington & Co, London, 1935. George V Silver Jubilee Hallmark.

The Silver Jubilee of George V on 6 May 1935 marked 25 years of George V as the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India. The Jubilee was marked with large-scale and popular events throughout London and the rest of the United Kingdom in May 1935. It was the first ever Silver Jubilee celebration of a British monarch in history. The King died less than a year later.

The Clothworkers’ Company was founded in 1528, following a merger of The Fullers’ Company and The Shearmen’s Company. One of the ‘Great Twelve Livery Companies’ of the City of London, our original aim was to promote the craft of clothworking, supervise the training of apprentices and welfare of members, and protect standards of workmanship. The Company possesses one of the oldest and largest collections of silver in the City of London. Although much of the collection was sold to pay off debts in 1643, they have, over the centuries, continued to acquire plate – sometimes through purchase or commission, but principally by way of gift from Clothworkers past and present.
