A fine and unusual late eighteenth century snuffer tray made in London in 1795 by Michael Plummer. The tray is of neoclassical navette shape and has a hand chased rayed motif to the middle and a large band of fine hand engraving to the interior. There is a very small original crest of an arm embowed with a sword to the central roundel ( slightly indistinct)The condition is very good.Oriiginally made to lay silver or steel snuffers (often referred to as wick trimmers) this would be ideal to use as a high class pen tray.
