A good large George III silver pepper or spice caster made in London in 1802 by James Mince.
The caster stands on a square foot leading to a tapered baluster body.
The caster is hallmarked on the body and the pull off top and is engraved with a pretty original family crest of a dove with an olive branch (a dove of peace).
The caster is in excellent condition and made by a specialist maker of casters.
It still bears its original scratch weight of three and a half ounces underneath the foot.
