A very rare George III silver argyle of unusually large size and fine quality made in London in 1793 by Henry Chawner. The argyle which has a capacity of greater than 2 UK pints (1136 ml) has the finest hand engraved decoration of a marine nature and finely engraved borders. The original owners initials are engraved within a bright cut shaped cartouche to each side and it is in superb condition throughout. It still retains its original handle and stands on a shaped rectangular foot. The spout is wonderfully panelled and it is hallmarked on the foot ,the lid and the detachable top of the tube. (The interior tube was designed for receiving a hot iron bar). A rare argyle in superb condition.
