A very beautiful Antique silver Irish rococo loving cup made in circa 1770 by John Wilme of Dublin. The loving cup has a wonderful hand chased scene of a parrot amidst trailing vine leaves on one side and what appears to be a duck flying above a band of flowers. The cup has two sturdy cast handles and on one side there is a vacant cartouche. The interior of the loving cup is richly gilded and it feels lovely and weighty in the hand. Similar decoration on articles by John Wilme can be seen in Douglas Bennett’s book P 121 and 348.
