A handsome George II Silver Tankard of plain tapering form with applied girdle, the stepped-dome hinged cover with scrolling thumb piece, the hollow-scroll handle terminating with a leaf, raised on a stepped circular base, crested and initialled. The initial’s on the handle are E over J D and the front is crested with a lion below which are the initials GED.The EJD initials would be the original 1755 initials and the GED initials and family crest would have been engraved for his son around 1780. Fully marked on the body and cover.
