Fine Tekke Main carpet.
Tekke Main carpets are instantly recognised for their distinctive elephant foot patterns, especially the early pieces with their bold and visually arresting drawings. Woven in the 19th century by the highly skilled weavers of the Tekke tribes in Turkoman in Central Asia, Tekke rugs are highly sought-after for their superb quality wool and use of natural dyes in their rich colours. They are much appreciated as one of the finest weavings from the region. Their beauty is undeniable and they are timeless treasures to blend in a wide variety of spaces.
A handsome early Tekke carpet with a charming light red colour field and simple monochrome drawing. Its remarkable quality explains the clarity of the drawing.
A timeless tribal piece in an unusual squarish format.
