A fine Regency period faux rosewood and brass inlaid library bergere armchair very much in the manner of Gillows.

English circa 1820.

Upholstered in a hand dyed tan leather, the padded and scrolled shallow buttoned spoon shaped back above a cushion seat, flanked by stuffed scroll arms with carved and reeded arm facings having brass inlaid roundel medallions. The seat rail with a rarely seen inlaid brass scroll, on turned and reeded tapering legs terminating in the original brass cap castors.

A fine quality brass inlaid Regency leather bergere which has all the characteristics of the famous cabinet makers Gillows but without a stamp as often is the case. Extremely rare to be brass inlaid with the roundels and brass scroll work to the front rail. Its is also extremely comfortable due to the form having a shaped back.
