Fine Nineteenth Century Senneh Rug.

2.00 x 1.33 m.

Antique Senneh rugs from Northwest Persia are prized for their exceptional quality, delicate designs and distinctive weaving technique. They represent relics of an era defined by unmatched craftsmanship and creativity, much coveted in the market today.

This beautiful 19th Century example predates the widespread commercialisation of rug weaving in the region, and so boasts a remarkably fine weave, lending a crisp clarity to its all-over design. Especially notable is that this Senneh carpet is an example of what is 'Haft Rang' - meaning seven colours, in reference to the seven different colours used in its foundation, reflected in its charming multicoloured fringes, including various soft blues, terracotta, olive green, and ivory - all in gracefully aged organic dyes.

Retained in very good condition for everyday use, with some age-related restoration, finished to a high standard.

A true work of art, which would make a worthy addition to any collection.
