Fine Needlepoint Carpet of Robert Adam Design.
2.07 x 2.05 m.
English needlepoint carpets have been produced since the 16th Century, but experienced a real renaissance during the 18th and 19th Centuries, incorporating a vast array of new colours and styles - this contemporary example represents a high-grade reproduction of the needlepoint carpets of this era, drawing from the iconic works of famed Neoclassical architect and designer, Robert Adam.
It employs a stamped motif, repeated across the field in a wonderfully restrained colour palette, with tones of muted grey-black, caramel, and aubergine grey, with soft sage green accents.
An elegant carpet, rare in this square format, to suit a sophisticated interior.
