A Fine Cased Carriage Clock

The substantially sized 'Gorge' case houses a lever platform escapement, striking the hours and half hours on a blued steel coiled gong, with the repeat button atop; the bevelled glass face shows the hours delineated in Roman numerals with classical figure enamelled on a silvered ground, with further conforming figures to the sides, and Apollo and his lyre on the platform, with a shaped carrying handle; complete with its' original Morocco leather tooled carrying case, with rising inspection cover. On the movement backplate, the inscription 'Hands' indicates the clock was made for the English market.
French, Circa 1890.
