Fine Antique Heriz Carpet.
4.55 x 3.50 m.
Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs. In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.
This beautiful early 20th Century example features grand-scale drawing and a harmonious variety of vegetable dyed colours, including sky-blue, yellow, various greens and dusty pink, well complimented by the warm red field and ivory spandrels on all four corners. One especially attractive feature of this piece is its border, unusually wide, and with a charming design, with floral motifs creatively repeated in a variety of colours and forms.
In very good practical condition for everyday use, still retaining its fringes and selvedges on all sides.
A handsome tribal piece, to compliment a wide variety of settings - rare in this squarish format.
