A Fine and Rare Elizabethan Carved Oak Lion Newel Post Finial. Circa 1580.
This beautifully sculptured Elizabethan oak lion is standing sejant and holding a shield. Unusually this example has its original polychromed iron tongue.
Wonderful carved mane and tail detail, great colour and patination.
