Fine 1910s Lori Carpet.
3.04 x 2.02 m.
Antique Lori carpets were woven by nomadic peoples in southern Persia, and these gorgeous pieces come with a rich history and tradition. These high-category tribal weavings are widely appreciated for their individuality, exceptional quality and simple, creative designs with wonderful colour palettes, which set them apart from other rugs.
This attractive Lori carpet has soft wool and tight weave, which lends a crisp clarity to its drawing. A particularly impressive feature of this piece is its bold, graphic drawing in relation to its format, and its well-balanced earthy colour palette, with tones of muted grey, ivory, terracotta and sage green.
This Lori carpet is in very well-preserved condition, still retaining its original fringes and selvedges on both sides. The variety of colours are all vegetable-dyed and they have aged gracefully.
A handsome example to compliment a wide variety of settings.
