A wonderful late 19th Century Bronze Okimono by the Maruki Company and depicting an Akodai (Red Rockfish). The creature appears to be swimming through the water and it’s eyes are picked out with inlaid Gold and Shakudo.
Signed to the belly.
The fish sits on a charming wood stand with gold lacquer decoration depicting waves crashing around the fish.
