The BADA Christmas Gift ListBorn in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1868, Ernest Higgins Rigg studied at Bradford College of Art then at the renowned Académie Julian in Paris. His attractive open air scenes were in the manner of French late nineteenth century painting. He exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere, working in many parts of England. He was a prominent member of the Staithes Group and later lived for a time in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
"The Plough Horse at Rest" is an oil painting on canvas laid on board. Measuring 8"x 14" it is unsigned and is framed giving an overall size of 14"x 20".
