Born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1868, Rigg studied at Bradford College of Art then at the renowned Académie Julian in Paris. His attractive open air scenes were in the manner of French late nineteenth century painting. He exhibited at RA, RBA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere, working in many parts of England. He was a prominent member of the Staithes Group and later lived for a time in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
"Pastures at Low Row, Swaledale" is an oil painting measuring 10"x 14". Showing a view close to the artist's home in Yorkshire it is signed lower left and is framed in a quality period gilt frame giving an overall size of 18"x 21".
