English Oak Farmhouse Dining Table.

A charming and rarely found English mid 18th century farmhouse kitchen dining table. Having well figured plank top with cleated ends over square frame and square tapered legs, with elegant square support stretchers.

This charming table is a fabulous size, a relatively comfortable 8 seater depending on the chairs and is the perfect shape for just about any dining room.

It retains a reasonable colour to the top, which is extremely well figured and also has cleated ends. These cleated ends are always a sign of quality and their purpose is to help ensure that there is not to much movement between the planks from which the top is constructed. They have certainly served their purpose on this occasion.

The base is attractive, with no structural defects to speak of and this results in the table being particularly robust and solid. It is also very much worth noticing the H stretcher design, which ensures that the support stretchers are never an issue in terms of a persons legs when trying to sit at the table, or indeed when trying to tuck chairs under it.

It is far more common to find 19th century, french, fruitwood or similar versions of these farmhouse tables and there are generally plenty of those on the market for one to choose from. However it is quite rare to find english, 18th century, oak versions available for sale and this is a particularly nice one indeed.

As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
