 A RARE ENGLISH OAK BOARDED CHEST FROM THE LATE 15TH CENTURY. CIRCA 1480.

THIS FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF A GOTHIC OAK CHEST HAS AN ORIGINAL SINGLE PLANK TOP WITH A SCRATCH MOULDED TOP AND ORIGINAL HINGES, ABOVE A FRONT CHIP CARVED WITH INTERLACING GOTHIC ROUNDELS INTERSPERCED WITH BANDS OF INTRICATE SQUARE DESIGN CARVING. NOW WITH A LATER LOCK PLATE.
