An Empire Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Green Granite Fireplace.
French, Circa 1850.
The fireplace has a rectangular mantel shelf above a frieze centred by applied gilt-bronze mounts of an Eagle and wreath supported by winged female figures holding aloft Laurel branches and holding ribbon garlands.
The jambs of the fireplace are enlivened with gilt-bronze mounts of neo-classical urns and anthemion motifs and put down on plinth bases.
The fire aperture is framed by an inset cast iron frame cast with rosettes and foliate motifs.
