Elegant Italian Neoclassical Empire Walnut Upholstered Scroll End Bench Daybed.

A very elegantly drawn Italian Neoclassical Empire walnut and parcel gilt scroll end bench or recamier.

Italian Circa 1810.

The raised scroll end with a walnut surround covered in a light blue velvet, the frieze having parcel gilt flower head roundels with stud work and moulded apron, raised on a pair of end supports each comprising of four baluster turned legs on a rectangular plinth base.
Mirrored to the back to enable this daybed / bench to stand freely if desired.

Being of narrow form this would be the ideal bench for the end of the bed or a bay window.

This daybed / bench although being of Italian origin shares the characteristics of French Empire Furniture where it is often referred to with French terminology as a recamier.
