Eight day drum movement by Smiths, biometric coiled spring linking the recording arm to the chart with temperature graduations from -10 to 40 degrees centigrade.

The copper case with glazed viewing aperture, original ink stand and supported by four brass springs and standing on an associated mahogany base. Circa 1910.

Barometers makers and retailers 1660-1900 by Edwin Banfield lists Short and Mason as working from 62 and 40, Hatton Garden from 1873-1900 and as being one of the leading makers of fine quality compass, nautical instruments and barographs.
