Edwardian Demantoid Garnet and Diamond Ring circa 1910.

An unusual Edwardian demantoid garnet and diamond ring.

This beautiful ring has a central bright mixed oval cut demantoid garnet in a slightly raised rubover setting within an openwork marquise design. This ring makes wonderful use of negative space, this is a typical Art Nouveau design style.

Along the outside of the ring there are four small old cut diamonds. These well matched diamonds are in a delicate millgrain setting.

Typical of the Edwardian era, this elegant ring is set with a platinum head onto a yellow gold plain underbezel leading to split shoulders each set with a small diamond.

The ring is beautifully low set to the finger and a fabulous example of Edwardian craftsmanship.

This ring would have been originally designed and made as a 'dress ring' and as such we would not recommend it for 'heavy' everyday wear due to the fact that demantoid garnet is a relatively soft gemstone.

Era: Edwardian, 1901 - 1920.

Measurements: Head of ring 12.88mm in length, 6.34mm in width.

Demantoid garnet estimated 0.15 carats.

Total diamond weight estimated 0.20carats.

Ring Size: L 1/2 (UK) 6 (US) 52 (EUR) This ring can be resized by our goldsmith but with limitations due to the design.

Hallmarks: Stamped 18CT, tests platinum, inventory number stamped to inner shank.
