Early 20th Century Heriz Carpet.
3.72 x 2.74 cm.
Heriz carpets, made in Northwest Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their abstract designs, fine durable construction, and creative palettes, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, incorporating the bold, graphic drawing of tribal and nomadic rugs, with the high-quality weaving of a Persian workshop piece.
This attractive early-20th Century carpet is a prime example of its type, featuring a warm terracotta field, overlayed with geometric motifs, in shades of ivory and turquoise accents, all in well-aged vegetable dyes, and framed by a wide border; an open, balanced composition, rather than the traditional central medallion layout.
A beautiful piece, in very good to excellent condition, with the versatility to complement either a classic or contemporary space.
