Extremely well cast and rare gilt and patinated Grand Tour bronze rhyton with chimera rams / lions head. 

French circa 1825.

The rhyton, of cornucopia form, being black patinated bronze with the head, foliage and rim gilt and partially polished. The horn being supported by gilt scrolled acanthus leaf and intwined by trailing foliage with an egg and dart rim, the rhyton head resembling a rams / lion head raised on a stepped rectangular patinated base with decorative gilt detailed mould. 

In excellent original condition having a wonderful colour and patination.
