Commonwealth Silver Seal Top Spoon 1656 Stephen Venables of London.
A rare Commonwealth period (Cromwell) seal top spoon made in London in 1656 by Stephen Venables.
The seal top spoon is in excellent condition with very faint traces that it was gilt sometime.
The seal is what is known as a decorative baluster top. Stephen Venables was an important maker during the mid seventeenth century (see biography).
