Chinese Export Silver Bowl with applied chrysanthemum, prunus and birds. The bowl has a wavy rim, collet foot and gilt interior and is shown sitting on a pierced wood stand. Marked with '泰安‘ (TaiAn), which is a rare maker's mark, and retailer's mark 'LW', for 'Luen Wo' (联和). From the 1870's to the 1920's, Luen Wo was the largest silver retailer in Shanghai, then the most prosperous city in the Far East. This bowl dates from around 1895.
