About

S & J Stodel

It was around 1975 that Stephen and Jeremy Stodel first noticed Chinese Export silver. Although they had started as antique dealers a couple of years before that, their focus had always been on antique English silver.

As they travelled around auction rooms and markets, they noticed that some exquisite pieces did not attract the attention they deserved.

Some of the most delightful and intricate pieces of silver were being offered at little over their metal value.

They soon learnt to add “or anything with dragons or flowers” to their standard enquiries for silver, and so their passion for Chinese Export silver began.

Stock

Over the years they have acquired a large stock of high quality Chinese silver pieces, which reflect a unique, subtle and distinctive design ethos, and are often asked to advise clients when they start building a collection.

They advise that, as with all purchases for this purpose, it is important to buy the best that is available and not to compromise.

In their opinion a poor quality piece will remain so, and should be avoided.

Chinese Export silver is not as prevalent compared to silver from other countries, and less-well known, so Stephen and Jeremy are pleased to be able to help collectors in any way they can.
