A charming 18th Century Japanese carved-wood Netsuke of a Shishi/Lion Dog.

From our collection of Japanese wood-carved Netsuke, this attractive 18th Century depiction of a crouching Shishi or lion dog. The beast with a loose ball in its mouth, the ball would have been carved inside the mouth, not inserted later.
