The large colourful folky sailor's woolwork or woolie depicts a large square-rigged three-masted first rate battleship. The sails are depicted trapunto.
The hull of the ship in orange as are the masts. A blue ensign flies from the foremast, a red ensign from the main mast and an American flag from the Mizzenmast.
Three smaller ships are in the foreground. The ship on the left with a little loss to the sail as seen in the photo. The woolwork within a maple frame.
