"Beau Brummell" maquette, by Irena Sedlecká (b.1928).
Irena Sedlecká (born.1928) "Beau Brummell" resin maquette signed and dated "SEDLECKA / 94".
This is the original maquette sculpted and submitted by Sedlecká for the London commission for a life-size statue of Brummell.
Accepted as the prototype, her completed statue stands in Jermyn Street at the south entrance to the Piccadilly Arcade, Piccadilly, London, where it was unveiled by HRH Prince Michael of Kent on 5 November 2002.
Irena Sedlecká is a Czech sculptor and Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors. After training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, she was awarded the Lenin Prize for sculpture before fleeing the communist regime in 1967.
