Provenance: Markswood Gallery, Essex.
Born in Germany, Uhlman moved to England in 1936. He settled in London where he married and established himself as a painter. From 1938 he exhibited with The Zwemmer Gallery.
His subjects included landscapes, especially views of Wales where he weht on holiday and still lifes which often included pieces from his large collection of African sculpture.
A retrospective of his work was held at Leighton House, London in 1968.
