Baroque Wrought Iron Firedogs, circa 1720.

Elegant pair of Baroque wrought iron firedogs with mulling cups and spit racks for keeping food and liquids warm.

Exhibita gravitas, made for a large inglenook fireplace.

High quality with fine detailing - rippling, twisted and scroll work - suggesting made for a substantial country house.

Very thick crusty patina with traces of black paint, most likely from the 19th century as this was the fashion at that time.

Paint fragments can be removed and can be polished if required.

Hard to date precisely, could be 17th century. Injecting atmosphere into the fireplace.
