An attractive Bronze vase with Silver Carp decoration (Japanese, late 19th Century).
From our collection of late 19th Century, Japanese metalwork, this elegant Bronze vase with multimetal on-laid and in-laid decoration depicting a pair of Carp swimming in shallow water.
The reverse of the vase is left blank, showing the attractive deep patination of the Bronze.
The carp depicted in on-laid (three dimensional) Silver decoration as they break the surface of the water. Just underneath them, some plants (including water-lilies) are inlaid with Gold, Silver and Shakudo. A sign of the quality of this piece, the Gold-ringed inlaid eyes with Shakudo pupils.
Signed to the underside.
