Art Deco Travel and Alarm Clock by Jaeger Le Coultre.

Steel case covered with fine black leather, hinged to provide support and act as a cover when travelling.  The case has a brass palque to the inside cover for the retailer 'Birch & Gaydon Ltd, 153 Fenchurch Street E.C.3.

Chrome cased timepiece with cream dial, Arabic numerals and original luminous hands, signed 'Jaeger Le Coultre'.

Birch & Gaydon were established as silversmiths in 1790,  The business appears to have begun with William Turner, a watchmaker, in c.1760, trading in Cornhill, London.  The business passed to William Birch in c.1840; Henry Gaydon joined the business in 1877 and it was renamed Birch & Gaydon.  The business was acquired by Asprey & Co in 1959.
