A magnificent quality large Victorian silver magnum wine coaster (15.5 cms diameter) made by the Royal Goldsmith Robert Garrard in London in 1861. The coaster is finely pierced and hand engraved in late eighteenth century style. The coaster is engraved to the front with the original owner’s initials to a small cartouche and a tiny dedication inscription to the interior upper rim. The coaster still retains its original oak base and is in excellent condition throughout. It is made of a very heavy gauge of silver. A very fine coaster of a rare size. Will fit a base up to 15 cms (5.9 inches).
