A lovely Antique Silver George III Hester Bateman Teapot made in London in 1784. The teapot which has a flat lid and straight gun spout is struck with the incuse head of George III which was first used in the latter part of 1784 and continued until 1785 indicating tax at sixpence per ounce had been paid. Tax was introduced in 1784 to help pay for the ruinous fiscal effects of the wars against America. The teapot is in good condition and well hallmarked. (Capacity approximately 750 ml).
