A fine antique silver George III chamberstick made in London in 1777.

The chamberstick is of classical beaded design typical of the period but has a lovely ‘bluebell’ design beside the rim which was a signature motif of Robert Jones and John Scofield who would have made the chamberstick and the RM RC Mark struck underneath was for Robert Makepeace and Richard Carter who would have bought the chamberstick from Jones and Scofield and struck their hallmark over the top - they forgot to do it on the nozzle so that’s how we know - although the design itself was also a giveaway!

The chamberstick is hallmarked underneath and the detachable nozzle and snuffer correctly part marked. There is a small slightly worn family crest on the snuffer.
