Antique Silver George I Coffee Pot.

A very fine quality antique silver George I ‘dome’ top coffee pot made in London in 1725 by Benjamin Blakely. The coffee pot is in superb condition and has a lovely feel and balance to it and still retains its original fruitwood handle. It is very clearly hallmarked to the underside and is correctly part marked with the standard mark and makers mark to the lid. The original scratchweight is engraved to the underneath by the hallmarks. This is a lovely early piece of silver and this style of coffee pot is reasonably unusual and only really seen in the 1715-30 period. It is in excellent condition throughout (Apologies for the glare plain surfaces are difficult to photograph). very early Georgian period pots were often used for chocolate as well as coffee.
