A rare Chester hallmarked skewer made in 1778 by the Liverpool silversmith Joseph Walley .The skewer still bears the faint original owners initials in a typical eighteenth century triad arrangement and is in good condition with just the normal scores and scratches associated with meat skewers. There is a similar skewer a year earlier by Joseph Walley mentioned in the Chester silver book by Maurice Ridgway.
