A fine late 19th century Antique Persian Heriz Carpet.
Hand knotted in wool.
Circa 1890.
Heriz Carpets and rugs from the Heriz region in northern Persia are often influenced by the geometric designs of the caucasian weavings. The woollen carpets and rugs are often quite coarsely woven in distinct contrast to the superb quality of those woven in pure silk.
