Antique Heriz carpet.

Early Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs. They have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs. The tribal characteristics of Heriz carpets give them the ability to blend in both contemporary and classic spaces.

A classic Heriz carpet with a wonderful quality of wool. An earlier example (beginning 19th Century); it has a higher density of knots which reveal the clarity of its crisp drawing.  It has a rich variety of vegetable-dyed colours, including:  sky blue, various greens, terracotta, ivory and deep blue.

The muted/light red field and ivory spandrels are perfectly balanced and harmonise well with the skillful drawing and colour composition, framed by a tasteful border.

A timeless example with a tribal charm and character to blend in a variety of interior styles.
