Magnificent antique silver(950 pure)large size second course dish/plate made in Paris in 1772 by Julien Alaterre.This superb dish which is very large in size is in excellent condition and is engraved with the crest of an English Viscount.It has a very substantial weight and a lovely patina. This would be perfect for a multitude of uses and is much larger than normal (most second course dishes tend to be 28 to 33 cms wide).The dish still retains its pre revolutionary French (before 1789) scratchweight. of 6 M 2o 5gr which means 6 marcs 2 ozs and 5 grams.6 marcs is roughly 48 ozs.
