Antique English pottery figure of a seated cat with underglaze colours.

Dated: 1780 Staffordshire England.

A rare Staffordshire Whieldon type pottery figure of a cat seated on a green oval base. This early creamware bodied figure is well decorated in underglaze oxide colors and has a hollow base. The cat has a characterful expression full of naive presence. The figure is an early example and dates to the last quarter of the 18th century.

Dimensions: 8.5 inches high, 5.5 inches wide, 4 inches long.

Current Condition: Restored ear and body hairline.

Provenance: Private Collection Wales.
