19th Century Set Of 8 Kitchen Dining Chairs.

An Extremely Attractive, Matched Set Of Eight, Mid 19th Century Elm And Beech Farmhouse Kitchen Windsor Dining Chairs, Having Elegant Arched Rails With Spindle Turned Upright Supports To Backs, Over Shaped Seats Raised On Turned Legs And Stretchers.

This attractive set of country dining chairs are in excellent condition. All the joints are strong and the there are no structural defects to speak of at all, so they are very much fit for original purpose and more. They all all strong and supportive and a pleasure to sit in

As is almost always the case with English, country made, dining chairs there are some differences to the turnings and detailed parts of the chairs, and there are also some minor variations in size. There is also one chair which has a double stretcher at the bottom uniting the legs, whereas the others all have a single stretcher. This is something which is very common with English farmhouse type Windsor chairs as often the chairs were made one or two at a time and gradually turned into sets. These particular chairs are all relatively similar, constructed using the same timbers and following the same designs, but as mentioned above they are very much a matched, or harlequin set of chairs.

Perfect around a wide variety of dining tables these are a great design of chair. They are relatively robust, whilst also being elegant and small enough to tuck nicely around a table at the same time. This is often a difficult combination to find with English country chairs.

As with all items we offer for sale the chairs have been inspected and any minor issues attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale. They have also received a natural wax polish ensuring they are in tip top condition and ready to place straight into the home after purchase.
