A very attractive late 19th century oriental hardwood lamp table, having attractive variegated marble inset to top. With elegant bamboo effect moulded decoration over pierced carved frieze raised on turned legs united by interlaced cross stretchers.

This attractive 19th Century Lamp Table is typical of the items which were being produced in China for the western market from early in the 19th century and beyond. These items are commonly referred to as having been made for the Chinese Export market.

It is relatively unusual to find a relatively tall table of this type, with by far the majority that you will find being lower pot stand type tables, which now serve a great purpose as low coffee tables. This table however is perfect for beside a bed as a bedside table, tucked in the corner of the room with a lamp on it as the name suggests, or possibly just alongside a chair or settee in the living room to use as a temporary resting place for full glasses and cups.

The simplicity of its design means it would work with a whole variety of different schemes from a country cottage all the way through to a formal townhouse.

This item is ready to placed straight into the home having had a clean, polish and wax in the traditional manner at our workshops.
