19th Century Burr Walnut Open Bookcase.

A very good quality mid 19th century burr walnut dwarf open bookcase. Having superbly figured top over two sections, with six walnut banded adjustable shelves. Exceptional carved decoration to top and bottom, raised on original plinth base.

This fabulous open bookcase dates to the mid 19th century Victorian period and is incredibly elegant, as well as being very good quality and functional.

The size is exceptional, much larger than often found, whilst at the same time not being overpoweringly large.

Overall the quality of the timbers used and construction is excellent and it boasts superbly carved corbel decoration. There is a huge variation in the overall quality and look of open bookcases which were made in the mid-late 19th century. This is certainly in the higher end of the quality bracket.

Perfect for a downstairs hallway, office, study, dining room, living room, bedroom or even on a landing. It can be used for its original purpose of the storage of books, or even for displaying items which one would like on view around the house.

As with all items which we offer for sale it has been attended to in our workshops by our well trained, traditional specialist antique furniture restorers. It has received a natural wax polish, ensuring that it is ready for immediate placement in the home or office.
