18th Century Italian Silver-Gilt Torcheres.

An exceptionally rare, pair of 18th century, period, silver-gilt, 1.57m, 5ft 2in" high, torcheres which include inlaid sections of mirror plate to reflect light.

Italy, circa 1720.

-Torcheres with mirror inlay are exceptionally rare.
-Pairs of period torcheres are rare as they were moved around homes so much.
-Silver-gilt gives a softness and contemporary feel.
-Retain period metal prickets and leaf surmounts.
-Sturdy, usable condition.

18th century Baroque fusing with Rococo. Surmounted with their original metal leaf crowns and prickets. The triangular section shaped columns with palmette and foliate scrollwork carving, on tripod bases with shell carving. Four vertical sections of inlaid, original mirror plate on each horizontal triangular plane with original patina. Original silver-gilding refreshed.
