18th Century Chippendale Table.

A George III period Cuban mahogany bird cage tilt top table.

The solid square top retains patina, colour and grain and rotates on a mechanism called a 'Bird Cage'. The bird cage allows the table to swivel 45 degrees on a peg and pole style function. The tilt top table will lift off and is not fixed to the solid turned pedestal. The ring turned pedestal is crisply carved and tapered above a triform platform.

The out-stretched legs are elegant with raised moulded knees above above neatly carved pad feet with a fine pinched crease to the centre leg. The table is raised on the original gilt brass castors and is a good piece of early Georgian furniture.
